The Making of Cockadoodle-BOO!
As autumn approaches and the leaves begin to turn, my mind is always drawn to the whimsical side of Halloween. This year, I found myself reflecting on a design I created last fall—a chicken magnet that quickly became one of my favorites. Titled Cockadoodle-BOO!, it depicted chickens camping in their bus-turned-pumpkin, dressed in all sorts of spooky attire. This delightful image sparked a creative journey that ultimately led to the birth of my new coloring book.
From Inspiration to Concept
The process began with a simple question: What if I could create something that not only celebrated Halloween but also encouraged creativity and play? The joy of that fall chicken design lingered in my thoughts, and I realized that I wanted to expand on that idea, using it as a springboard to create an interactive coloring book.

The concept of hanging coloring pages with magnets became the cornerstone of this project. I envisioned kids (and adults!) enjoying the act of coloring, and then proudly displaying their finished masterpieces on the fridge. I wanted to make the act of coloring a more connected experience, blending the worlds of art and decoration.
With the idea in mind, I rolled up my pant legs and got to work in the Armless Art Studio. Every illustration in Cockadoodle-BOO! was crafted with love and care. This book features 10 pages of original illustrations, each one filled with quirky, Halloween-themed activities. You’ll meet silly chickens adorned with witch hats, others balancing jack-o'-lanterns, and some just being plain goofy.
Each page is designed to capture the spirit of the season while providing a fun and engaging experience for everyone. I wanted to create characters that felt relatable and funny, sparking laughter and creativity as you color.
The Sticker Connection
As I was designing the coloring book, I also began working on the October Sticker of the Month, titled "You Heard the Bird, One Worm Only." This design started as fun line art and quickly transformed into a full Halloween vibe. From foot-coloring her feathers to carefully placing that witch’s hat on her head, this chick is ready to hand out some serious spooky vibes… and maybe a few creepy crawlies for those brave enough to trick-or-treat. 🕷️👻

You know she must stay cozy, with a fall-themed Stanley cup tucked under her wing. No tricks here—just the cutest little "Take One" sign next to her jack-o'-lantern stuffed full of… well, let’s just say it’s not candy.
Creating this sticker was such a joy, as it encapsulates the fun and festive spirit of Halloween while seamlessly fitting into the Cockadoodle-BOO! theme. I knew that these stickers would be the perfect companion to the coloring book, adding an extra layer of delight for my supporters.

I’ve poured my heart and soul into creating these pages, and I won’t be doing any reprints before Halloween.
