Artist Statement

“As Buddha once stated, ‘All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.’

This statement rings true, especially in how we as individuals look at life. You see, I was born without arms. Naturally, most essential activities that are done with arms and hands, went directly to my legs and feet. One of those essential activities happened to be art.

My art has evolved, just as I have with my disability. Beginning as a young child with basic sketches, my artwork now consists of paintings in many different mediums, pencil drawings, charcoal drawings, digital photography, printmaking, and three-dimensional pieces, all produced with my two feet.

My pieces offer a broad range of styles and subjects. You can anticipate a plethora of landscapes, pet portraits, and pieces that provoke thoughts and a feeling of reflection.

Returning to the previously mentioned words of Buddha, the way we look at life, for ourselves and the world around us, is crucial to our success or to our demise. The “woe is me, I’m disabled” mentality is not one that sticks well with me. We decide our fate, arms or no arms. Nothing is impossible; nothing is too far out of reach, and I hope that can be taken away from each and every one of my pieces.”
